It all started from buying a pair of "Harem Pants" from UO.. 스크랩 - Art

Originally from Muslim culture. Signifying women's sexual repression and hierarchy along with Hijab.
It's less about the style but its naming.
During the turn of the century, the style is appropriated by Orientalists for "imperialistic fashion."
As it became a fashion trend, further studies done for contemporary "Harem pants" as meaning might have been changed.

Overall, I feel uncomfortable and unready to accommodate its cultural symbols and history, and I am generally ashamed that I even entered Urban Outfitters to shop. I am returning the pants today.
